Athlete/Rappers You didn't know About

Athlete/Rappers Most Viewed Songs You Never Heard

There is no denying that athletes want to be rappers and rappers want to be athletes. Back in the day athletes like Deion Sanders and Shaq dabbled in rap which was seen as goofy at the time. But as technology has made recording and creating music easier, more athletes have joined in on the fun. Whether you think that is a good thing or a bad thing is up to you. Here is a list of what I thought was the most notable athlete rapper attempts by some household athlete names ranking from worst to best in my opinion.

Delonte West - KFC Freestyle

Delonte West has hit some very low lows recently as he was spotted homeless late 2019 looking very cracked out. In this video I'm guessing is his beginning of that stage in his life where he was making terrible decisions. Spitting "bars" in a KFC parking lot about KFC. The rap makes no sense and his speech is barley understandable. Very on brand for the late Delonte West though. Certainly peaked with all of those rumors about him and LeBrons mom.

Floyd Mayweather - Yep

Floyd Mayweather, undefeated... in boxing. Not so much rap. This rap has to be his first L outside of his exchanging of jabs between him and Rapper 50 Cent. Can Floyd actually not read? We may never know. But what we do know is that he certainly can't rap.

Stephen Jackson - America Da Beautiful

Stephen Jackson, one of the first athletes to come out and say he smoked weed during his time in the NBA before every game. He was one of my favorite players back in the day and is still balling to this day in the BIG3 League. Love this guy, not so sure how I feel about his rapping. He is definitely expressing certainly expressing his feelings and trying to make a statement with this rap.

DeSean Jackson - "Pound Cake" Freestyle

DeSean Jackson is crazy. Seems like a tough dude to be honest. Not a fan of his rap skills but if your reading this you can be the judge of that.

Kevin Durant - It Ain't Easy feat. Lebron James

Kevin Durant, also known as the snake. KD is an absolute cheat code on the court, but has made some questionable decisions outside of the game. Im not talking about his decision to leave OKC or leave Golden State, I am talking about this rap.

Lebron James - You Know I Got It (freestyle)

LBJ has to be the greatest athlete of my lifetime. His game is practically unstoppable but his raps sure should stop. Sorry Bron.

Ron Artest - Champions

Ron Artest or Metta World Peace, is very underrated in my opinion. This rap looks like it was shot driving around in Jamaica Queens with his boys and it certainly gives off that type of sound. Shoutout Ron Artest one of the greatest St. Johns Alumni professional athletes/rappers out there.

Allen Iverson - 40 Bars

Allen Iverson innovated the game of basketball both on and off the court. He was the first athlete to not wear suits, and wear streetwear before the game. MJ was always wearing suits, AI was wearing baggy clothes and a backwards hat. He took the rap culture and brought it into the sports culture. I think his attempt at rap should be noted here for that reason.

Kobe Bryant - K.O.B.E - feat. Tyra Banks

Kobes rap game like his basketball game has swagger. He spits fire on the track with Tyra Banks and made a song that actually sounds legit. Not surprised because Kobe always put 110% into everything he did in life.

Shaquille O'Neal - (I Know I Got) Skillz

In terms of entertainment, Shaq is a jack of all trades. He's acted, made music, DJ'd as well as be a Hall of Fame NBA player. His earlier music is probably some of his better stuff IMO.

Damian Lillard - Swae in the Morning Freestyle

Dame Dolla is universally thought of as the best athlete/rapper. He actually performed at the all star game this year. He has made numerous mixtapes/songs/albums that sound very legit. I think he's got a good thing going on the court, but I think his rap game is worthy of the praise.

Leveon Bell - "Major Payne"

Leveon Bell is sneaky good at rap. Not sure if a lot of people even know he raps. His passion for rap was part of the reason why Pittsburg wanted him out. As a NY Jet, he has the freedom to do what he wants as he now raps a fairly good amount. He has dropped at least four different projects since he has been with the Jets alone. I think that his beats are the thing that sets him apart from all other athletes who have tried to rap.
